This is the place,
Where Seán can shut his nerdy face
Because this is our page!
And who are we?
Look below and see . . .

Seany Minstrel
Hello you lovely people, and welcome to the performance persona page. I am Seany Minstrel, the primary, lead and gestalt persona – the bisexual, polyamorous, gender non-comforming Queer Minstrel
When Seán the researcher split himself into four parts, those four parts took on lives of their own. But then we stuck them all back together for a show called Thomas the Rhymer and The Minstrel was born!
Seany Minstrel, is a performing musician, storyteller and poet, and conglomerate of all the ‘best’ (ahem!) bits of these four exciting folk: Tim the Excited Mythologer, Thena, Guru Tovski and Baron Sam.
Tim O’Mythy
When you take the brakes off a mythology nerd with suspected AHD, you end up with Tim. Tim loves to research into myths, legends and faery tales, especially the rude bits you can’t find in most books.
And then he loves to tell you about them, at length, also at speed.
He does tend to get a little distracted, though.
Thena Academia
Thena is our academic, with a level head on her shoulders and an apposite and enlightening quote on her lips. Without Thena, the whole troupe would dissolve into the disorganised chaos of not knowing what we’re talking about.
Her writing is, admittedly, dense and dull. But then, she is a fan of Judith Butler.
Guru T
The mystical mind of Guru T cannot be easily understood. Perhaps it is better to allow his words to flow over you in an attitude of holiness, in your favourite yoga position, until enlightenment hits you like an attack of cramp. Or, as Guru T himself would say in the sacred language of Polari, “Trey plates forward and dewey palliass is still trolling. Also a fabulosa cha-cha”.

Baron Sam
Born from the same primordial, bubbling ooze that birthed The Sex, Death and Mythology Cabaret, Baron Sam the shadow/poet/non-binary filth-monkey has even hosted a festival: Arrival 2019, at the New Adelphi Theatre, Salford
The mutated offspring of generations of drag queens and queer performance poets, Sam counts among their ancestors Gomez Addams, The Marquis de Carabas, Mae West, Joel Grey’s Cabaret EmCee, Annie Sprinkle and, of course, the greatest of all lwa, Baron Samedi himself.
Baron Sam is available for cabaret nights, burlesque evenings, poetry performances and festivals. Please use the form on the home page to get in touch with their alter-ego, Seán.
Baron Sam is not suitable for kids’ shows. Okay, maybe adult babies!
